Biography

Mr. Sabey is a shareholder at Fabian VanCott, where his main areas of practice are real estate development and related litigation. He has been involved in both residential and commercial real estate developments and transactions since 1985. Mr. Sabey has authored numerous real estate related articles, and is the recipient of the 2005 Distinguished Real Property Practitioner of the Year. He is the Past-Chair of both the Real Property and Business Law Sections of the Utah State Bar, and was a Bar Commissioner for the Utah State Bar from 2004-2010. Amongst his legal peers, Mr. Sabey has held the highest rating at Martindale Hubbell of “AV”, Pre-eminent, with a 5.0 out of 5.0 Peer Review Rating since 2005, and has been listed in America’s Best Lawyers since 2005, Super Lawyers since 2009, and Utah Legal Elite since 2005. His real estate experience includes service as the Chair of the Sandy City Planning Commission and the Board of Adjustment; development of office buildings, hotels, shopping malls, resort condominiums, water companies, financing on large scale residential developments in several counties and a hospital. Mr. Sabey’s litigation experience runs from neighbor property-line disputes to high dollar litigation in development, title and real estate law. Mr. Sabey served on the Utah Judicial Council from 2006-2009, and served on a number of Utah Supreme Court Committees. He authored the original Small Claims Judge’s Bench Book, has taught the Small Claims and Justice Court’s Judges School since 2000, and has been a Small Claims Judge Pro Tem for more than 20 years. He Co-Chaired the Bar’s Governmental Relations Committee for more than eight years and served on that committee from 1997-2015.
