Kate Mueting is a Partner in the Washington, DC office of Sanford Heisler, LLP, a national law firm with offices in Washington, DC, New York, and California. Ms. Mueting represents employees with a wide range of employment claims, including discrimination on the basis of gender, pregnancy, race, and disability and other civil rights claims. Ms. Mueting represents professionals at the highest levels in their fields, including law firm Partners and corporate executives, in both public litigation and privately negotiated settlements. She currently represents a class of women with gender discrimination claims against a Big Four accounting firm in Kassman et al. v. KPMG. Ms. Mueting is a regular contributor to Shattering the Ceiling and frequently speaks on issues of gender and pregnancy discrimination. She is also actively involved in the District of Columbia’s Women’s Bar Association, where she serves as Co-Chair of the Employment Law Forum. Ms. Mueting has been recognized as a leading litigator by numerous publications, including the Washington, DC Super Lawyers Magazine, and eBoss Watch. Ms. Mueting also volunteers with Reading Partners, a national education nonprofit. Before joining Sanford Heisler, Ms. Mueting worked as an associate at Covington & Burling, LLP. As part of Covington’s Pro Bono Rotation program, she served as lead counsel in several trials representing clients seeking to care of neglected children and children at risk of being neglected at D.C.’s Children’s Law Center. Ms. Mueting clerked for The Honorable Michael J. Melloy on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and The Honorable Richard J. Leon on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
