Annie E. Andrews’s clients are fortunate to have such a passionate and dedicated attorney working on their case. An experienced litigator, Annie worked for seven years as a trial attorney at the Charleston County Public Defender’s office, where she tried numerous cases to jury verdict and zealously fought for the rights of more than 1,000 individuals. In moving to the Steinberg Law Firm, she brings the same commitment and guidance to her clients’ cases involving nursing home abuse or neglect, personal injury from car accidents or medical malpractice, and failure-to-warn and design defects. Annie often goes beyond simply defending a client’s case. While representing an incarcerated pregnant teen who did not have access to a library, Annie built a library for her client and then helped revitalize juvenile jails in Columbia and Greenville by collecting more than 4,000 young adult books. Her efforts to increase literacy and expand access to books in juvenile jails saw coverage by media such as ABC 4 News and News 21 and was recognized by the Charleston County Bar Association. While representing incarcerated children, she went beyond simply defending their cases and sought to reform the juvenile justice system for their benefit by challenging the constitutionality of solitary confinement in the lowcountry. Her advocacy for the rights of incarcerated children and efforts to improve living conditions within juvenile jails has garnered media attention at home and across the country. Annie’s peers have recognized her commitment and dedication to our community and contributions to the practice of law. She received the Star of the Quarter award of the SC Bar’s Young Lawyers Division (FY2018–19) and was the sole recipient of the 2019 Juvenile Defender of the Year in South Carolina award. In 2019, Annie graduated from the SC Bar’s Leadership Academy, a selective program designed to train the next generation of Bar members and community leaders. View More ›
