Biography

Tamra A. Spradlin received her B.A. in 1989 and her J. D. in 1992 from Oklahoma City University. As the youngest person ever to graduate from OCU undergraduate, the OCU Law School awarded her the Hatton W. Sumners Scholarship. She received numerous awards including the Judge Tom Brett Criminal Law Award, and American Jurisprudence Awards for Constitutional Law, Evidence, Criminal Law, Property, Bankruptcy, and Criminal Procedure. She attained the Order of the Barristers in recognition of courtroom advocacy skills. She began her legal career as an Assistant Public Defender with the Oklahoma County Public Defender's Office in 1992. She obtained numerous Not Guilty verdicts for those wrongfully accused of very serious felonies including rape and murder. As an advocate against the death penalty, Spradlin tried multiple capital murder cases and received numerous life without parole verdicts for her clients. She was the 2002 recipient of the Clarence Darrow Award from the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. She has extensive experience representing people with issues of mental illness, drug addiction and alcoholism. She has been a featured guest speaker at legal seminars including "Learning From the Oklahoma Criminal Jury Trial Masters - Advanced Criminal Jury Trial Techniques." In 2004, Spradlin expanded her law practice to help families in crisis in family court. She has tried numerous Divorce and Child Custody cases, and travels to many different counties in Oklahoma representing both Mothers and Fathers. She is co-founder of the Father's Parental Rights Law Center, which provides representation and encouragement for Fathers facing difficult child custody and divorce issues throughout the state of Oklahoma. She was chosen Legal Aid of Western Oklahoma's "Pro Bono Attorney of the Month" in 2011 for her representation of a Mother who had suffered domestic abuse.
