Addie Prewitt

Addie Prewitt is a lawyer in New Orleans, Louisiana. She has a broad and wide range of legal experience from drafting estate planning documents in Louisiana, to advising clients on multi-million dollar tax consequences in NYC, to helping Atlanta’s fortune 500 companies with reorganizations. Addie was born in Lafayette, in the heart of Cajun country. Her grandparents lived next door, and there was rarely a day without a visit to or from someone in the extended family. She attended Louisiana State University for undergrad, where she played volleyball. She continued on to law school at LSU. It was there that she stumbled upon her passion for tax law. After graduating from law school at LSU, Addie headed north for the first time to pursue her Master of Laws (LL.M) in taxation at Boston University School of Law. But it was around this time that Addie met her husband, Eric Laborde, who owned a small community pharmacy in Hammond. And when he asked if Addie would open a second pharmacy in Metairie with him, she jumped at the opportunity to flex her entrepreneurial muscles. Addie spent 2 years working in the store and a few more running the accounting and compliance aspects of the pharmacy. During this time, Addie and Eric welcomed two boys to their family. Although the pharmacy gave Addie a taste of being her own boss, she still had a passion to help families with the legal complexities necessary to attain their long-term goals. So, she created Addie Prewitt Law to help her community plan today for peace of mind tomorrow. Whether this be through well-designed estate planning, proper legal formation of family businesses, and/or transfer of assets to families through the succession process, she is devoted to helping families work through the most difficult and important decisions of their lifetimes.
