Biography

Nancy brings an accounting background to the practice of law, allowing her to counsel her clients regarding their legal needs with an eye toward tax planning. Nancy takes great pride in building and maintaining strong client relationships, based on service and trust. Together, Nancy and her father, Jay W. Winter, served the legal needs of Oregon and Madison-area families from one generation to the next. In 2013, Winter Law Office merged with The Law Center for Children & Families, forming The Law Center, S.C. As a result of the merger, the firm is able to serve more of its clients’ diverse legal needs, while continuing a tradition of long-term, personal client relationships. EDUCATION Nancy graduated with distinction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business with a B.B.A. (Bachelor of Business Administration) in Accounting. She earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1990. COMMUNITY AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES Nancy is a member of the Board of Directors of Canopy Center, a children’s rights non-profit, and she is particularly involved with Dane County CASA. “CASA” (Court Appointed Special Advocates) enlists volunteers to advocate for the needs of abused and neglected children who are unsafe at home and end up in the child welfare system. Nancy has coached track for the Oregon Area Chapter of Wisconsin Special Olympics for over a decade. She delivers “Meals on Wheels” through her Rotary Club. Nancy received recognition as a Paul Harris Fellow for her contributions to the Rotary Foundation, an establishment that takes pride in their humanitarian efforts and educational objectives. Nancy provides free legal consultations to Oregon area seniors through the Oregon Area Senior Center. She has taught the “Real Estate Transactions” section of the Lawyering Skills course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has presented at seminars for the Attorneys’ Title Guaranty Fund.
