Trial Attorney for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) • Responsible for supporting the mission of the EEOC to "Stop and Remedy Unlawful Employment Discrimination." The EEOC is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information. It is also illegal to retaliate/ discriminate against a person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of discrimination, or participated in an employment discrimination investigation or lawsuit. • Prepares and litigates employment discrimination cases under all of the federal statues enforced by the EEOC including: Reviewing charge files and recommending the initiation of litigation; Filing petitions for compliance with administrative subpoenas; Seeking temporary injunctive relief; Filing motions to obtain compliance with court orders, decrees, and pre-suit settlement agreements; prosecuting cases to ensure consistency with EEOC litigation policies and judicial precedents; Conducting discovery for litigation in federal court; Preparing and presenting motions, responses and oral arguments to the courts; Preparing pretrial and post-trial briefs and materials; Conducting all facets of trials in federal courts; and - providing formal and informal legal advice and memoranda to agency personnel. • Licensed to practice law in all Missouri state and federal courts, Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, Supreme Court of the United States, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, Veterans Affairs Accredited Attorney, and U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
