Stavros graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1989 with a B.A. in Philosophy. After serving as an intern for Judge John N. Prevas, and as a law clerk for the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Maryland, he graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1996. Thereafter, Mr. Stavros gained invaluable experience defending a heavy volume of criminal and traffic cases for the Office of the Public Defender in Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Ocean City, Maryland. In 2002 he opened The Law Offices of William A. Stavros, LLC. William A. Stavros is a former Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Baltimore County Lawyer Referral Committee, an agency dedicated to matching qualified lawyers to clients with specific needs. He currently serves on the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, Criminal Justice Act Misdemeanor Panel.
